Are there more fish at the weekend?

Has anyone found that the standard of players in online cash games varies greatly depending on what time of the day and what day of the week you are playing?

I’m sure this applies to tournaments aswell, but its more easily noticed in cash games because you spend longer with them at the tables.

Some of my most profitable sessions have been on Saturday and Sunday afternoons playing cash games. Then I go back to these same tables the following Monday/Tuesday night and there are (seemingly) not nearly as many fish.

The reason I’m asking this is because I am not sure if this is a result of the cards/variance or if its because the games actually get softer at the weekend....

(or maybe i'm just delusional and trying to justify in my head last nights losing session)

Weekends ppl have more spare time and games are better. Its the same in town. You are pretty correct in your assumption imo.

It was such a shock to me on Sunday though, I moved up to 6max $2/€4 for the first time and I could not understand why there were so many fish at the tables.

I had 3 tables going and there were players regularly sitting down and then busting after half an hour with stats like 75/6/1

Then last night the same tables were full of good TAGs and LAGs again. Its easy to avoid the TAGs but sometimes I cannot tell the difference between good and bad LAGs before its too late

I think Friday night, not Sunday.

For some reason I find Sunday afternoon a great time to play, during the football, maybe I'm just on autopilot with one eye on the game but I find the tables really really good. Along with Friday and Saturday nights, I find those nights are when I have my best and worst nights, drunk maniacs that get it AI with A7 against your KK or QQ and the likes, if variance favours you it's a great night if not it can hurt like hell

Definitely softer games available over the weekend, logical really since a higher percentage of recreational players are around.
During the week similarly games are softer in the evening (on the non us sites at least) as of course in the day time there is a higher proportion of pros to hobby players.

I suppose it depends on the limits of the game your playing.

@ $100NL and below obviously the ordinary joe soap is able to afford a few buy ins. Same for the STT's/MTT's with small buy-in's.

I'd imagine say at $400NL and higher there are smaller playing pools anyway and that the buy-ins are less favourable on the pocket to our perennially under-rolled fishies.

For me @ $50 I find new people with no stats(even though I mine) every weekend and a few thousand extra players in total on the iPoker network.

I haven't been playing much until the last month so I can't say tthe above with 100% accuracy.

No, the fish come out to play at the weekends at higher levels too, just like the lower limit fish they have to work during the week.

Agreed / weekday nights are better than days / weekends are best /
Morning weekdays really bad but after about 3pm things start to improve.
We really need the Chinese to start playing poker to even things up

On ipoker during the week theres a massive difference at different times of the days, 12-4pm bad time you have to hunt the fish down and table averages are around the low 20's or worse. 8pm-12pm is great, plenty of fish and easy to find a good few +30V$pip tables in between and after 12pm its somewhere in between for obviously the same reason, the fish have to work and be in bed early. Thats at 50NL and 100NL btw

all the games have gotten awful on ipoker recently. very beatable, but full of ok tags. table selection is THE most important thing at this moment.

It would be nice if the lobby updated often enough to allow that to be halfway easy to do!
