Can anyone remember the games you used to play in primary school?:)

    I remember two specifically:

    #1. Bombing up the town

Where a group of us would plant bombs and run like hell and hide from the blast in a hedge! :o:o

    #2.

    1...2...3...redlights

Where one person would say the above and then turn around and catch someone moving towards them. The person to get to the front first would win! :D

    Ahhh memories! :o

'What time is it Mr Wolf?'

I'm sure people played a lot of the same games under different names, never really played that one in school though, just 'on the road', heh.

Curbs too, on the road, tip/kick the can.

Handball, football and piggyback fights (2 versus 2, resulting in many injuries). :)

    Excellent :)

Don't know how to pronounce it but we said something like rally-voh? You had 2 teams and when the 'on' team caught people; the prisoners stood at a wall as if in jail. You had evade the 'guards' and slap the wall with your hand to free your team.

Barsy - Two people on either side of a goal had to chip the ball and try and hit the crossbar.

Kerbs - Two people on either pavement had to bounce a ball back of the kerb and catch it. We had double points if the ball bounced off one kerb and then another.

Cannonball Run - Younger people were forced to run along the foot of a fence or wall and we shot a football at them. May have been specific to the Tallaght region.

Pile on - One unfortunate person bends down to pick up something / is thrown down /falls over playing football and everyone starts to jump on them while shouting 'pile on'.

    Ah, memories!!

    Tip The Can:
We had seriously inventive ways of playing this game

    Squash:
Everyone sits in a line and pushes with all their weight to one side. You'd time the poor bastard that would be at the end, when he popped out of the line the person next to him becomes the last in the line and so on.

    Bulldog:
Massive game. 5 grabbers and about 10 runners running from one side of the court to another while if grabbers caught anyone then they joined grabbing people. Really rough, like rugby with the ball.

    Wall War:
We used to have championships on people trying to push each other of a wall. I was reigning champion twice in a row.

...it's just coming to the time of the year for Conkers.

In fact there are a few Chestnut Trees around here where I work in South County Business Park in Dublin form which I'm going to get a few.

boys, girls ,fruit, or flowers tvprogrammes, drinks or colours...

everyone stands on a wall bar two people.
the people on the wall put out their hand and says "me me me"
the two on the ground take turns picking someone from the wall.
they are asked "boys, girls, fruit or flowers, tv programmes, drinks or colours?"
they pick one(ie. flowers) the two stand to one side and pick one flower each (ie. daisies or roses) they go back and ask the person which one they prefer. the person joins the team of the person you was right.
this continues until everyone is gone off the wall and has joined a team.
then there is a game of tug-a -war, and you have your winner.
lather, rinse and repeat for the rest of the day until called in for dinner.

sardines! One person hid and then everyone else looked for him/her. When you found the person you ahd to squish in beside them and hide with them. This would go on until there was only one person left all on there own. They were the loser... good times! Also I remember Mother May I and Polio.

jaysais, that game used to scare the bejaysais out of me in school.

No matter what school you went too, there was always a few lads who even though they were 8 - 12 years old, weighed 150 pounds and were solid as a brick****house (or something very solid).

They were usually angry and aggressive too.

    Love Bulldog.

Just rembered something that wan't really a game but great.

We trained the baby infants class to jump all over somebody on command. They would then pinch and grab them. Made helpless by a gange of 4 year olds. Their special move was the groin.

Oh, there was also a slave and slavers game. People were slaves and people were owners. We literally bought and sold people. Your slaves had to do what you told them, lol.

    Remember one that went

    'Queen-i-o, who has the ball,
is she big or is she small,
is she fat or is she thin,
or is she like a rolling pin'.

    Or something similar.

This isn't really a game as such but after Buck's Fizz won the Eurovision, we used to sing their song in the yard and try to emulate the bit where the guys pulled off the girls' skirts. Being 6 or 7 year olds, the best we could come up with was tying our jumpers or cardigans around our waists and having someone else yank them off at the appropriate moment.

'Mother May I' I forget the rules.

'Red Letter, Yellow Letter'. 'Red letter, yellow letter, I call the letter __ ' and if you had it in your name you got to step forward, first to the top wins.
    Simon Says
What Time is it Mister Wolf

And 'The Witch in the Well' which involved washing hands, something about cake, and chasing.

Bulldog, that was great, when the whole 35 or so of us played it. Got banned several times though.

I remember Queenie-i-o! The person at the front covered their eyes while a few people behind her would hide the ball behind on of their backs, and everyone would act as if they were holding it behind them, and then the person at the front had to guess.

There was also this group thing, in a circle where everyone moved their feet in a kind of scissors way, and the song thing had monkeys in it?

    This game was called Relieve-io.
