In fairness its everybody's duty to care for the envoirnment... the paper and cardboard is recycable.... Apple cant be blamed if the customer doesnt recycle!

But they can be blamed for irresponsible packaging, companys have a responsibility to minimize the amount of unneeded packaging for there products and Apple have obviously failed in this when it came to packaging the keyboard
