Hey lads, I'm looking into going to Korea to teach English.

I have a BSc in IT so you can imagine my CV is fairly full of IT-y stuff.

Any ideas on how I should:
1 - Change my CV to make more sense from the point of view of someone hiring me as an English teacher.
2 - Change my CV to be more "Americanised" as I believe that's what's standard in Korea.

    Thanks.

    hi,

I don't think you have to worry too much. Unless you're looking to get a job in a university, mostly the schools require you to be western, native speaker and have ANY degree. daves esl cafe is a pretty good forum to find jobs. My advice would be to get in touch with the teacher you are replacing and someone still working at the school if possible. And double check your contract (overtime especially.. ). Things can still be pretty shady.

University jobs are fantastic to get with great benefits but often given to people after 1 years experience. Public teaching jobs aften pay better money with less hours and a more genuine korean experience. Check job notices in september/ august for these. But they can be isolating if new to korea because you may be the only westerner at the school.

    All the best!
