Importing from NI. Associated costs?

I'm thinking of importing a car from NI.
Other than VRT (and TAX/NCT) are there any costs associated with importing a car?

Also, is it really true that they tear the shít of their cars up there, any more than we do in the south

How would people normally deal with insurance when driving a car down to your driveway?

no other costs
much better spec cars better roads cheaper prices
check for rust cos they salt their roads
by low milage the vrt sees age as a depriciator not milage

arrange insurace in advance
pay for it when you by it


check the brake dfiscs and chutch for wear
