Hi, I have a multiregional DVD player and it appears to be on the way out. I wanted to pick up another good value DVD player - has to be multi-regional as I've collected a large number of Region 1 dvds - Any suggestions?

hamrog, hope you don't mind me joining the thread (rather than start a new one)

I'm looking for similar - but in a home cinema system with surround sound speakers.

This one is €79.99, says can be modified for region free.

In my experience alot of the less espensive DVD players from Argos (we have an Acoustic Solutions one) are multi-region out of the box.

You could get one of the Plustron's from Dunnes for €36.
Region free out of the box, and will play pretty much every file you can think of.
Has component and optical out too!
Can't go wrong for that kinda money.
If it doesn't suit, shur just bring it back.

Blatant thread hijack - I'm also looking for a multiregion DVD player, but one which upsamples its output. Any thoughts?

Another vote for the Plustron here! It also plays photo disks! :)
