own a 01 tdi passat. having a few power problems.
doesn't always happen but sometimes the power goes completely dead, but turbo appears to be running away, but no power, like its restricted!!
Could it be a fuel or air problem.
have never had any noise or anything from turbo.

    Any help be grateful!!

    MAF filter

Could be the mass air flow (MAF) meter. Look along the air intake between the air filter and the cylinder head, you should see an electrical connector pluging into it, that's the connector for the MAF. Unplug it and go for a test drive. If performance improves, you need to replace the MAF.
