Looking for outdoor pursuits in Cork/Munster

Hi i am looking to create an alternative lifestyle to going out and getting drunk in pubs the whole time. I have never done anything like this before so it is hard to know where to start looking. Are there any kind of social groups in Cork that go hill-walking or any other type of activity. Does anyone have any idea of any such groups in Cork?

There are a few cavers in Cork. Many in Clare. PM me if you are interested in trying caving (Clare this weekend is doable).

I'm not a member but the Bishopstown hillwalking club looks good, have a lot of walks for all levels. Google them, they have a good website.

The Comeragh Mountaineering Club is based in Waterford. I never went on one of their walks but I can certainly vouch for the Comeraghs as being one of the most scenic places around.
    Link here.

Isn't there an upcoming walking festival in the Comeraghs?

You could try surfing as well... relatively cheap to get into, and you live near some of the best spots...

I've only got a moped, so i dont know how i would lug a surfboard around on that! I would be well up for trying it though.

A lot of surf shops rent boards - big spongey ones - you could try that approach and see if you like it. Maybe then you could upgrade to a cheap car.
