I need some kinda face protection. The gas mask i have just fogs up all the time, even with the filter fully removed.

I will need as close to 100% vision as possible, and have little faith in goggles due to the fog. Do any offer 100% fog free 100% of the time? I have seen the mesh facemasks but have never wore one. Do they impare vision at all?

What do you guys think is an all round bb repelant, for the face?
    Links welcome.

i wear a scott paintball mask, which never fogs up under normal use, it did fog once or twice after i cleaned it and didnt give it enough time to dry before using it again, but that was the only time it's happened, i prefer goggles to mesh masks, much better field of vision

    Nice one kdouglas.
By the way, I wear glasses and am too lazy to get contacts.

    no prob.
i wear glasses too, although i can get away without them, my eyesight isnt too bad, but i can comfortably wearing glasses under the mask i have.

Tried goggles and they kept fogging up, so went for the mesh and it works a treat for me. My vision is pretty good while wearing them.

if you go for an expensive paintball mask you can get a thermal lense, take care of it and it won't fog, LT masks can have a glasses mount too, the best jt are about €60 i think

I still have to buy one. Thinking on the Roundy Mesh full face one.
Dont like the square/boxy looking shaped one.

Must say I would be a mesh man, as I also do Classical Fencing I am
am used to wearing a Mesh mask and visibility is good and keeps ya
nice and cool compared to non mesh.

thermal lense all the way lads. Mine has only ever fogged up one in 12 months, and thats cause i fuped it up and let water geting in between the lenses, ( rainy day at midland, whupass)

I know it is a bit expensive for airsfoft, bur the JT Proflex or any flex range or paintball masks weight next to nothing, i mean nothing. You dont thing you are wearing a mask. Good chin projetion also. They are a mostly soft rubber construction, very flexable.

Plus.....at least you will have a good mask for when you realise that paintball is a must better game. (had to through that is, pay back time)

well i used that stuff i bought on ebay called catcrap..

    here is what i found

on the guarder type shooting glasses -- it was not good, i dont think it worked at all

on the full goggles, i got 2 games of clear vision before it began to fog up. i am guessing i would have had a third game except it was lashing rain and when the goggles got wet on the front the condensation started where each drop hit the front.

so its not as good as i was hoping for but its not bad. you would need to reapply it during a break tho a couple of times of you were out all day. from what i can gather if you want no fog, the absolutle pinnacle is the fan assisted ones with anti fog measures but i think they are around 200 dollars or so.

Guys IMHO Mesh is far better. There is no vision loss as the metal is so close to your eyes that you dont see it at all. They do slightly reduce the light so it slightly disadvantages you in the dark. On the other hand they are lighter than Paintball masks and you get the wind on your face as they are very well ventillated.

There are expensive battery powered goggles that circulate air though the inside to stop them fogging.

Whats the peripheral vision like ? The only reason I wear goggles over a mask is that I haven't found a mask that allows me good vision to the sides and downwards without tilting my head substantially.

    Blasphemer :p

i agree , but you really do need some kind of mouth protection, i usually use a biker type scarf that i can pull up over my mouth and nose, took it down for a minute in predator on saturday and forgot to pull it back up.... basically i lost half of one of my front teeth about 20seconds later. mouth protection is an absolute must. ive been wondering if simple gumshields would be useful? anyone tried them?

    Theyd suck for tactics!

Does the fan on the goggles not make noise? Speedball it'd be ok but airsoft...

i know some in the US use the football type gumshields...not sure how good they are but i suspect they would take the speed out of it..

half a tooth..jeasus that must hurt...

nope the fan only moves at 40 or 50 rpm (something like that) just enough to move the warm air...

Wouldn't a slice of orange do the trick. :D Might look like a bit of a tool but you'd still have all your nashers.

    or....Keep your mouth closed!!!! :D

    Guy A: "Say Cheese!"
    Guy B: "Cheese"...and grins widely.
Guy A: "Thanks"...shoots Guy B in the teeth.

Seriously though...full face protection of some kind is a really good idea. There are scarves, neoprane masks, sheemaghs, gumshields, ski-masks etc, so there are plenty of options to choose from.

Perfect, paintball masks is a huge development area in the sport, they have to be cause players can be wearing them for hours at a time. With the new JT maks or the Vforce grill masks, you can forget you are even wearing a mask.

I bought this face mask on eBay a few weeks ago.

    ux_a06090100ux0028_ux_g.jpg

And because I hate face masks, I detached the face protector bit and just wear the mesh goggles over my neoprene mask.

It's weird, when you first put on a mesh mask, you obviously see the wire that makes up the mesh, but after about a minute, you no longer see them, your eyes adjust and you have great visibility.

I have had goggles up until this point, they fog up like CRAZY and annoyed the hell out of me. I even bought that Catcrap anti-fog stuff and it didn't really work well at all.

Seriously, if there's one thing worse in airsoft than people not taking their hits, its fogged up goggles. They ruin the game.

I had one of these when I visited HRTA last Sunday. It was great indoors but found it very hard to aim with out in the Field. Think I will try just the mesh goggles with a closed mouth balaclava or something similar for my next visit.

dont bother with them, not great.

    Proto Switch FS
JT Proflex or Flex 8 masks
    Vforce Grill or Vents

They are the best masks... paintball masks

Thats the same style one I wanted to but.
I got no need for one yet cos nobody skirmishes in Limerick
and Dublin is too far away to travel to. But if I needed
a full mask that would be my first choice.
