Year abroad??

    How do folks,

Myself and the skirt are trying to plan a year abroad. We're both 26 and have been working for the last 4 years (myself in I.T. She's an accountant).
Thing is... we're not 100% sure where to go.....
We think we'll spend the last 6 months of the year in Australia but as for the first 6 months we don't know. Dubai is a possibility, as are many European cities (Barcelona, Paris, Rome etc).
Would anyone have advice or recommendations based on their own experience? How easy/difficult is it to get work? Bar/Resturant work would do if we couldn't get jobs relating to our careers. So long as we could earn enough to keep us out there. The plan is to head off early next year so we want to get things mapped out now.

I'd love to hear from anyone who has had to make a similar decision and how did they get on.

    Cheers

Do you actually need to work for the first 6 months? You'd be surprised how little you could survive on in Asia .... you could use that time to do some voluntary work for example, and if you weren't into the travelling/backpacking scene you could rent somewhere for very little.

    well for job wise
Accountant's are in huge demand here (esp if qualified) and so are IT workers ... again depends on area, if you are a experienced dev, you'll be laughing all the way to the bank/pub

(in big cities that is, I live in sydney and there is a big shortage of skilled workers)
