Its coming up to the end of the summer and ill be back in college in little over a month, but before then im heading to HMV on a dvd binge so i can have a big selection for college to keep me entertained when The Panel isn't on :D i need some recommendations for dvds, new releases or oldies, it doesn't matter, just need some good movies to watch.
A sort list of films i like off the top of my head (in no order of genre):
    True Romance, Pulp Fiction, etc
    Tommy Boy
    Clerks
    American History X
    Taxi Driver, Scarface, etc
    Goodfellas, Casino, Godfather, etc
    Big Fish
    Full Metal Jacket, Platoon, etc

    any suggestions?

    When Harry met Sally,
    Two weeks notice,
    You've got Mail,
    While you were sleeping...

...are films you won't want to watch I guess :D

    So, how about,
Once upon a time in America...one of my favourite films
    Deliverance
    Southern Comfort
    The Deer Hunter

Judging from the films you've mentioned:

    Dead Man's Shoes
    Oldboy
    A Bittersweet Life
    Save The Green Planet
    Office Space
    Brotherhood
    Pan's Labyrinth
    Layer Cake
    The Woodsman
    Bad Boy Bubby

So, quite a few dark, gritty films there, a lot of indipendant ones, so hopefully you won't have seen them before, and an excellent comedy. ;)

if you don't have it then I'd say get the Father Ted box set. I have it over a year and cannot get bored of it, no matter how hard I try :D

Aliens is always good for a lads night in
    Kill Bill
    Ring (Jap version)
American Beauty (fantastic film, can't recommend it enough)
    Spaceballs

Well, if you liked True Romance, you really need to see Badlands, which heavily inspired it. It has the same fantastic music, and Martin Sheen rules.

If you're into Coppolla (you listed the Godfather), check out the Conversation. Hackman's performance in it is the best piece of acting I've ever seen.

That'll keep you happy for now.

    Leon
    Saw
    Rounders
    A Scanner Darkly
    Falling Down

Also boxsets of series are great too if you just want to watch something for half an hour or so.

    Kill Bill
    Resevoir Dogs
    Pans Labyrinth
    Mean Creek
    Donnie Darko
