I shot at a friend's party (she was the DJ) in downtown Las Vegas on Saturday night. Most of the photos were crap as the light was horrible, I was rusty at shooting clubs/parties, and I had camera problems in the sense that it kept switching off. Not a good thing.

I really would like critique on this photo; it's a paid-for work and I have to present it in a few hours, but I'd like feedback from beyond the payee.

I like the processing of this - looks to be a strong conversion, also the grain & dof are spot on. I think the material on her hat and scarf came out v well as did her expression. The crop seems a bit problematic though I cant really think of a way to improve it - possibly I would have cropped the record player to just below the line of the needle arm.

Deadly shot ,the white at the bottom is very distracting though.

I like it, but would a tighter crop work better? Taking out the white on the bottom, and taking a wee bit from the top?

I'd have gone near square for my crop.

nice shot fenster, wouldn't look out of place in a music mag.
Don't know about the crop suggestions, i like the edgy nature of the existing shot... lots of angular energy to it. Would you think about cloning out the record sleeves on the left, i find them to be too much of a contrast to the negative space on the right... just a thought.

Very nice, I would leave it the way it is. Sometime the client sees it differently to the photographer.

Great shot Mark. I'd go for the crop as Gerard suggested. I've moved it on the screen to see if it works and, to me, it does. She'll be delirious with excitement when she sees it :D

I went for an 8x10 crop for printing. Everyone's advice was good - I fixed the blemish on her arm, removed the record covers, which improved the shot immensely, and cropped it down a little bit.

Were the record covers a distraction? I thought they would have added to the picture. Love the grain and movement in this shot. Great work. Has she seen it yet? Love the expression of concentration, as she’s about to attend to the vinyl.
