The shadow work is maybe a bit too dark for me and I just hate that 'arm across the breast' pose, I know why its contrived of course but thats the problem - its a contrivance.

She looks 'natural' in tone pity she is'nt in pose.

    I like this one http://www.flickr.com/photos/gerardkenny/1136402560/

Sorry, I'm just a friend of portraits, so this one http://www.flickr.com/photos/gerardkenny/1136403670/ is the best for me from the latest added ones.

Not mad on the first image, it looks like the kind of photo you'd find on an escort agency website. The third is nice, I particularly like the aura given by the brightness of the window.

    Nice cans.

I will take your word for that.

I have to disagree with monkey tennis! :D I think the first one is very striking, the one un-shadowed eye really draws you in.

Congrats Morlar, you have some very nice images there. I like the shadow and light contrasts on the first 3 in particular.

Just two things caught my attention. The pillow, (?), behind her raised arm is a little distracting as is the darker blanket, it almost cuts her lower body in half.

No disrespect and I understand she is a human, but it's hard to hold back the wolf whistles.. - we're all human.. (again, no disrespect to model)

Thanks for checking - hadn't noticed the pillow/blanket in the background but yep I can see that it is a bit uneven and distracting. Thanks again.

I'm not saying that they ruin the picture or anything!! :D
Just that they were the only things that I found "wrong" with the shots...

third photograph is the best by a mile... looks like an intimate moment captured rather than posed... first two are a bit obvious, last one looks like she's trying to remember if she left the gas on. :)

    and yes, nice balloons...

good job we've now got our two extra full time mods on hand :)

I haven't being paying too much attention lately... who's running the door these days?

    Indeed they will...

Firstly, I think the title should be changed to a general (18+ NSFW) tag...

While they might be safe for older generations, Boards is open to 13+

Please keep your inappropriate remarks to yourselves.

And now, for the C&C. :)

They all seem to be lacking a bit of contrast, but that could just be the look you were after. The first and second could have looked a lot better from a different angle I think, the pose dosn't do anything for the model or for the picture.

The last is my pic of the bunch, but I think if you had used a reflector to pop some light onto her face, it could have made it a fantastic image.

    Keep comments to C & C please.

    We are watching you....

(in a friendly and non-threatening kind of way of course)

    :D

Morlar... love the second last - and that's not because it is the only one without bits in it - it's that the arms up thing just doesn't seem anything but contrived. Others have mentioned already, the blanket and cushion are distractions - i think if you kept the background all white and floaty you'd have a good thing going on there. Love the processing though, she's a doll and you do her justice in these pics. Keep working on it :)

(last thing I'll say off topic in this thread)

Oh deary, the power's gone to their heads already.. Ok, I'm done. If I may be so bold, I'd say the last one could have done with a little fill light... Other than that, spot on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,982 ✭✭✭minikin

is there anyone on here that's not a mod? starting to feel a bit intimidated here... :)

first shot: both the dark pillow and dark blanket kill the flow of the composition....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,819 ✭✭✭rymus

    I'm not :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,982 ✭✭✭minikin

sush rymus, keep talking about the tastefully nudey lady or else they'll start tut tutting at us...

"um, yes rymus... i must agree the bokeh* is quite remarkable"

*please stop using this inane faddish nonsense, it's just japtalk for blur.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 885 ✭✭✭Spyral

Thanks all for checking and commenting /keeping it vaguely respectful - some good points there.

I looked at these yeaster on another (older) monitor and I thought the shadow was excessive and must have been added, although looking at them now they don't seem to be too bad. Is all of the shadow natural or have you edited the pics?

I think the shots are missing action and flow and this is showing them as contrived.

I think photography people like B&W too much - are these shots available in colour?

Cheers - yep its natural light only coming from the window for that sequence. Those particular shots are only in b.w though.

Just coming back to this as, despite a lovely model and being technically good, the mood is off. While the window pic conveys a certain moodiness (maybe boredom, maybe not), the other two have the suggestion of a clinical coldness of them. Its like a doctor is giving her an armpit inspection.

    Sorry. :(
