Adobe After Effects 7.0 Crashing

I am just after installing Adobe After Effects on my laptop and it crashes nearly as soon as it loads up. Most of the time I can import a video but as soon as I try to do anything with it, it crashes. There is a screen cap attached of the error message I get.

Im running Vista with 2gb RAM and a GeForce Go 7600. Is it a vista compatability issue, is there a patch?

Can anybody suggest a fix or an alternative program?

It isn't officially supported but I found this online:

Installs and runs with minimal known issues.
(One known issue is that you may encounter
display issues if you run After Effects 7.x with
Aero {Desktop Composition} turned on. Disabling
Aero fixes the issue.) Find out about
known issues by searching the Adobe knowledgebase
    at www.adobe.com/go/support. Enter
    the keyword Vista.

Good find. From the OP's screenshot however, Aero is off.

    Have you tried reinstalling it?

What makes you say Aero is off?

ethernet is right aero is turned off (you can tell by the look of the windows). Thats definatly not the problem because Vista recognizes that there will be a problem with aero and automatically turns it off. It does the same with a couple of other programs aswell and they all work fine.

My hardware is up to spec. anyway isnt it? Thats not the problem is it?

    Try this:

Released last week so don't know if you have it or not. It's supposed to help with certain crash errors.
