What does the saying "that pic doesnt do you justice" mean to you?

Right I have a specific reason for asking this and will reveal why after a few responses,...

I'm wondering if someone saw a pic of you and said " that picture doesn't do you justice" then what would you think they meant??

You are, in reality, from various angles and most of the time, better looking than said picture portrays you as being.

(edit; That's what the phrase means. I don't necessarily agree )

it probably means that the pic makes your face look like a bag of hammers whereas nomally it looks more like a well spanked arse

Normally though, it's taken to mean that you are (somewhat, slightly) less hideous in real life that the picture might suggest.

Generally what Rovi said. But it might also be sarcastic. They could be saying, as the picture portrays you rather well and in fact you are an ugly monge, that the picture doesn't do justice to your ugliness.

I think either way, it's one of the those sayings that people use to have a crafty swipe at you, while appearing to complement. Now, please tell us why you asked???

well the reason i asked the question was because to me saying "that pic doesnt do you justice" means that the person is much better looking in real life and that the picture doesnt reflect that....ie i use it as a compliment.

well i said this to my friend (who happened to have a male friend in the pic) and her sis saw the comment and gave out **** to me saying they have been friends for years its not fair to judge her etc....like what the **** is she on about?? i said her sis was good looking in real life.

can anyone tell me what this girls problem is??
