I'm looking at purchasing a 40" lcd screen or thereabouts and have found myself drawn to this tv. Can anyone give me any recommendations about it or any problems with it? Is it a good price? Is samsung a good make? It will be mainly for dvd's and consoles use. Much appreciation for your help.

I read that the xbox cannot be used on it. Is this true? And thanks 8t8 for your input.

No thats totally untrue especially given that Samsung are the official HD display for the Xbox 360 :D

The TV comes with component, HDMI, VGA all of which can be used by the Xbox 360 for HD mode (Only the newest Xbox 360's now come with HDMI).

Just in case you mean the old Xbox that too will work fine the TV has scart & composite inputs.

Brilliant. That has my mind made up for me. One last question, where would you buy if you were me. Komplett, technikdirect or a local shop here. Technik are about 150 cheaper than komplett which is 300 odd cheaper than stores here. Really appreciate the advice.

check out the terms and conditions.

if you have to return tv during warranty, I think I remember Komplett will not pay, Tech Direkt will.

might be other issues with either.

Bought from TechDirekt anyways (didn't have to return), good quick, safe delivery, also cheap

    ;)

Last i checked Komplett will charge you about €150 to ship any TV over 32 inches. That would bring the price to €1650.

I got the same TV in Power City the other day for €1687 once they matched the price on their (Power City's) website. For the extra €37 i'd suggest buying it at a local Power City if you can.

Mine has a May manufacture date, so Power City would appear to have moved on to later versions without Firmware problems, the one i got handles 24FPS without any problems, and Movie Plus stays off.

According to the European Consumer Centre:

"...if the product sold is faulty (i.e. not being misused), you are entitled to seek remedies (e.g. repairs of replacement) free of charge, directly from the seller, including delivery costs."

How enforceable this is, I don't know.

They quoted this EU directive, which I haven't read.
