    Luke's tourney on Friday - 125 runners. 4 tables left. Blinds 50/500/1000.
Ive 35k and am viewed as tightish but active. Picked up A10 off in MP and call. LAG to my left makes it 3bbs (he has done this with AK and air and has 40k). BB (Villian - just joined table but I know him as solid has 35.5k) makes a reluctant call as do I.

    Flop (pot 10k+) 7c 8h 10c.

    BB leads for 7k.

Here's whats going through my head .....
BB prolly has hit flop soft, maybe a 10, maybe on a draw with any 9. Then I think thats a big bet for a feeler. It looks like he wants draws to go away. Then I think if he wants draws to go away he's good enough to know he needs to be the pot at least to do this. So now Im not sure. I cant put him on J9 because I know he'll bet but maybe 5k only. So I can't put him on a hand. I decide to make them put me on a hand and figure the only way to do this is AI re-raise as now they ought think Ive J9 and Im chasing away the flush. Also, Ive got TPTK!!(BTW I have no club).
I also consider lag, he could have pretty much anything reasonable but cant call an AI rr without J9. So I push.
    LAG Flods.
BB thinks for maybe 5 secs and then announces "call".
What's he got? Comments on my thought process please.

If the BB is a good player as you say, he could have called here with any playable hand as its only 2xbb's to call and he's pretty sure your going to come along for the ride as well. It wouldnt surprise me if he turned over 2 pair.I certainly think you overplayed yout TPTK.

you said BB is pretty solid player so i'd say he's a set / 2 pair / A 9 clubs could even have the 9 6....?

Do we get a prize for guessing correctly?
You played the hand terribly IMHO at all 3 action points (well not as I'd have played it anyway).
I'd guess at 8c9c but it could be alot of hands incl 2 pair, a set and a wouldn't be surprised at 66 if he put you on the flush draw - I'd be surprised if he had the nut flush draw.

pre flop is awful. raise and it will make the hand much easier to play.

i dont think folding flop would be terrible but i kinda want to call/call blank turn. i think he has pair+flush/straight draw hands a lot. also sometimes he'll have a worse ten.

the fact that the p/f raiser is still to act makes it closer but given read i dont think we have to worry too much about him. if he was a nit i'd feel better about folding flop.

    a set of 10's?

Yeah preflop is as bad as it gets. After making the initial mistake of open-limping you should shove when it gets back to you. As played, the pot is too big to fold so you should either shove or call and felt any turn

Reggie, we have circa 2x the pot behind in our stack on the flop. Why do we have to get it in here? I just don't think BB is ever leading air or a one pair hand we soundly beat into two players.

And I also think that the advice to shove pre - flop when it gets back to you is awful. When it comes back to you the best thing to do would be folding in my book. Shoving for 35 BBs seems really bad to me.
bad players will definetly bet out QT/JT/KT hands to stop the Ace from coming etc...
I agree with most of the rest though.

We increase our stack by over 20% be shoving when it gets back to us, and given 30something's read, the initial raiser will have to fold most of his raising range and the BB will rarely have a hand he can call with.

Good read. after his call he shows 10 9 off giving him top pair worse kicker but up and down str8 draw which he hit :(

BTW, the lag said he folded KK so this makes the RRAI less flawed in thinking.

The general consenus is that the pre flop was terrible. I will work on that, thanks.

No way he folded KK there. He was lying for sure

Gotta give him top marks for effort though (I wonder did he actually expect that to be believed?)
