Hi just a quick question re XP Media Centre. I have ripped a few movies to large VOB files and renamed them to mpeg in order to play them through xp mce. Then ive downloaded thumbnail covers for the relevant movies from google images so it looks all nice and professional. However only about half of the thumbnails are being displayed in the mce user interface. Ive tryed resizing the ones that wont display using xnview but it didnt make any difference. Can anyone shed any light on this or is there a specific file size/image dimension that mce will only display as an mpeg2 thumbnail?

    Cheers

Do you mean covert art for the movies in My DVD's or is it not displaying the thumbnail for the actual movie.mpg

If it's covers there is an application that does it automatically.

thanks for the reply 8T8. The situation is the movies I have are renamed say for example Event Horizon.mpg. Then id go onto google images and find the dvd cover of that film, save it as a jpeg, and place it in the same directory as the film. Then in the mce interface i navigate to the film...its name and picture of the cover are there and it looks great. Except thats only worked for some of my films - for example not one of the 6 star wars films will display the cover art in mce interface?

Thanks for the link to the program - i ran it and it scanned my database to date and found images for them all - however I cant seem to find a way to extract that image or even copy/paste it - can you advise on its usage?

    Thanks again

UPDATE - Ok ive solved why that was happening. The folder for the film, the thumbnail, and the movie file all have to have the exact same name. For example for star wars I had 6 seperate folders for each film. The folder name had the full name of the film ie -"Episode 3 - Revenge Of The Sith", then the thumbnail had that exact name, however I just had the film listed as "Revenge Of The Sith". Renamed the mpg and the thumbails will show.

    Cheers guys

the thumbnail dhould either have the exact same name or simply be named folder.jpg

for your dvds check out dvdxml.com
download the xml for your dvd and put it in the folder,
you then get a review of the film and cast details in mce.
    (requires "my dvd's" hack enabled)
