    hi there,
i am currently trying to sell my 00 renault clio. its the 1.2 mtv model with 79,000 miles. its in great order and i had four new brakes pads put on just yesterday.
i have spent the day going to dealers to see about a trade-in, but they keep jerking me around and seriously under valuing the clio. are my expectations too high?, i asked for just 4,000 euro for it and they would only offer a little over half that. its in great nic.
should i sell private? and whats the best way?
    cheers.

If you have the leeway your always better off selling privately. The dealer will always give you less than its worth too.

Generally 00 Polos and Yaris make €4,000-€5,000 as trade ins against normal sized cars. Clios are a long way behind in value. I reckon if you sell yours privately and haggle for a discount of €1,500 (possible on most small cars) you'll be much better off.
The Clio MTV isn't as sought after as the far more common Clio "Le Sport" model.
