Distorted sound on some Sky Channels

    Hi

I have a Sky system that is hooked up to a Pioneer Amp (Pioneer VSXD514) and TanoyFX 5.1 surround system.

My problem is that some TV channels have distorted sound. I have uploaded a small sample of what I mean - (http://www.fileden.com/files/28131/Distorted.mp3 - warning it's Richard Keys). It happens on specific channels (Sky Sports 1, Zone Horror) but then on a channel like Sky News or any of the Sky Movies ones it seems fine.

It doesn't even have to be loud - at a low volume the distortion is still there but on a movie channel at high volume I hear nothing.

My DVD player also plays ok.

Another odd thing is that it seems to go away for a few months (it has been fine since March until this week) and then return out of the blue. And the last two years its timing has coincided with the return of the Premiership.

I don't know much about home entertainment equipment but I thought I'd see if anyone has come across the problem or suggest something I might do.

    Thanks in advance.
    9lives.

strange one, sounds like a clock frequency getting into the amplifier. Do you have a standard digibox or Sky Plus box? if latter is it connected to the AV receiver via optical or analogue?
The timing of the distortion may be coincidence, is it only on the two channes mentioned or have you found it on other channels as I notice that those channels are on the same polarity group. your AV receiver has 2 optical inputs it may be worth swapping inputs or even putting a bit of space between the Sky box and the AV receiver.

Thanks for the reply mate. I'll check in to those things. I have a Sky+ box although I have a Sky box on top of it (not used). Is there anywhere where I could get the polarity information on the Sky channels so I could cross-check the ones that are distorted and which aren't?

    Cheers
