howdy all.....has anyone here delt with xzoverign electronics in the uk in relation to buying scanners.the price of scanners in this country is obscene.
ive bought a few bearcat 785 base/mobile scanners and ive purchased a few scanner antennas in maplins, the vertical base type about a mtr long.
also was wondering if anyone has a dedicated receiver for hf and if so what antennas do they use,so far i coudnt see any reference to hf listening in this section.like listening to kinloss radio and the hams on 40 and 80 mtrs. have a 102 ft long g5rv and a sirio vertical conected to an ft1000 mk5 yaesu. also use this equipment to receive the hf airband such as shanwick and gander radio. when aircraft leave the range of normal vhf comms they use hf due to its range capabillities and this can be enjoyable to listen to.

102ft is not optimal for 80m
132 ft end to end or 66ft end fed wire for 80m
    half as long for 40m
Don't bother with egg insulators but use 1m to 3m+ of nylon rope as end support insulation.

Don't bother with 'expensive' egg insulators, you can get them in bags of 20 for about 5 Euro in any farm supply shop. the electric fence section is always chock full of good antenna bits ;-)

... including 137kHz, 160m, 80m spark transmitters that connect to farmer installed nvis antennas :)
