So I heard a remake of The original Evil Dead is being planned for 2009.
From what I've heard Sam Raimi is not looking to direct and Bruce Campbell is not going to star in it.
It's all hear say right now but something for all ED fans to keep their eyes on.

I'd sooner see a new story with Ash only being a Cameo as the torched is passed on to someone new.
But then Why do we need all the remakes. Give us something new.

I agree.A 4th movie with someone like Nathon Fillion taking over ,and Sam Raimi directing, would be brillant

Couldn't have a 4th movie without Ash. If anything I'd take the remake without Bruce and Sam Raimi (although he does want to produce) and then look forward to Evil Dead 4 with the two of them.

There's a long enough thread about it somewhere on the film board.

yes remakes are only worth watching if ya havent seen the orignal.

Campbell has said he has no interest in the remake, as for a 4th film howver, Raimi and Campbell have some interest, but Raimi is on the remake trail first

I AM SO SICK OF HOLLIWOOD DOING REMAKES!!!! ARG!

All we seem to have been getting for the last 2 years is remakes or redo's of foreign films. It means it's been ages since I was bothered to go to the cinema as there's just not been much new stuff that I'd care to see.

I know Evil Dead was done on a budget but seriously, remaking it will add little if anything, it'll just be rehashing the same story (although that was kinda done anyway with Evil Dead 2). If they're going to go anywhere near this classic trilogy they should add to it, not simply revamp it.

Ah, there's the odd gem of a remake that's well worth watching, even if you have seen the original. Dawn Of The Dead for example (Probably the only remake in the past 10 years that I actually like) is a film that I enjoyed along with the original.

    The Departed?

Didn't watch it. For the most part, I just won't give my money to remakes, I'm voting with my wallet and The Ring was probably the last remake I watched in the cinema.

Still, that is one film I'd like to give the benifit of doubt.

Yeah....I really enjoyed The Ring. The American one that is. It was the first version I saw and so seeing the original afterwards was really dissapointing.

Yeah I felt my balls in my stomach as I said that.

But seriously, it just clicked better with me.
