Where are all the 2nd hand clubs?

In the (good old) pre Celtic Tiger days, most golf pros and shops had a good selection of 2nd hand clubs. These day most shops have few or none at all - possibly some drivers and some rubbish ancient sets of irons. In this consumer's boom, more people than ever are buying - and - trading clubs. So why does it seem like 2nd hand ones are rarer than 10 or 20 years ago - almost to the point of extinction. Where are they going ????

I haven't a clue where all the olds clubs go.

But I was in McGuirks (Blanch) on a Monday a few weeks back and couldn't believe my luck when they had the driver i'd been searching for (G5) and a cleveland hibore 3w as well as a good few decent clubs including a Ping Rapture driver, in the second hand bags.

Needless to say I bought the driver and the 3w, the driver had seen a few rounds but I's swear the 3W was never hit before I bought it.

So I suppose the tip is to go on a Monday after the rich boys have been in to get the latest and greatest gear over the weekend.

i picked up a callaway 3-wood in the same store. it was impossible to tell if it had even been hit. if it had, only 1 round at most.

i was in today and they only had about 5 second hand clubs (other than the old second hand sets of irons that always seem to be there). I'd also love to know where all the second hand clubs go.

Actually, just thought I'd mention - I noticed Golfworks (Lucan) have the old (as in not square) Sasquatch driver reduced to €229... pretty good deal I guess although I guess ya prob can't trade-in for it as it's on sale as such.

yup couldn't believe it myself, but I was too focused on the G5 to pay much heed to it. There were a few other decent clubs, couple of TM woods.

I didn't get a price off them for the rapture but I got the g5 for 120 with a new headcover which I though was a good price:D

Great deal - fair play, and it's a fantastic club.
