Hi all,

We're turning sod on monday with our house build and I'm planning out what will be a cinema/media room kinda thing with a projector, dvd, Wii, home network etc setup.

I'm looking to buy the cabling needed to go from the ceiling mounted projector (S-video, HDMI, VGA, component, composite) and I've been on websites where I can buy them in lenghts (meters).

Question is, if I buy them in lenghts, will I need to be able to wire a scart/HDMI etc plug at each end myself?

I may have done elctronic engineering in college but I won't even pretend to be an eletrician so I don't really want to have to wire them up to the relevant plug at each end.

Any advise would be very much appreciated.

They will make up leads for you and you will also find a large range of AV components.

So I won't need to put the connectors on either end myself?

If you buy a 10m (or whatever length) component or HDMI or S-video or whatever cable from the likes of Keenes or Lindy cable or whoever you buy them from, they come with the appropriate connectors on the end. If you're into diy, making your own composite or component video cables is pretty straightforward - use the best 75 ohm cable you can get and rca connectors.

If you're nifty you can make your own fully wired scart cables - there special cable designed for this - try Maplins or Farnell (http://ie.farnell.com/jsp/home/homepage.jsp)

You'd be better off buying HDMI cable - if it's a very long run make sure it's certified as guaranteed for that length - Lindy would be my choice. 10M VGA cable is easier to buy than make, imo.

Keene will make up cable including the connectors but making your own leads is no hassle at all, execpt for the HDMI cable.

Just buy good quality cable and gold plated connectors.
