Clearing a user but not a system?

    Hey all!

Just looking for some opinions on this one. Hopefully when I get back to Kerry this evening my MBP upgrade will be waiting for me. (After waiting 5 weeks I cancelled the other order yesterday and sourced one in the Rebel county instead :D ). Anyway, I'll probably CCC this MBP to the new one. (Part of me would love to start off with a clean machine this time but the hassle of adding keychains, prefs etc again makes me think that its better to just bring the gig or so of unwanted 'gathered system junk' with me).

Thing is, this old one is going to my sister and while I want to keep all the software I'd like to remove as much user specific info as possible, keychains, prefs, data etc. Now I know I can just try and do this manually, clearing out the user directory etc but I suspect that this will cause a bit of havoc and be a world of pain as well. Anyone know of any nifty and quick solution for this?? I'm sure there must be an easy solution that im not thinking of!

    Cheers,
    Kate

Don't know of a solution (and tbh I wouldn't trust anything with that level of deletion if I found it) but what is the problem with creating a new Admin user and deleting the old admin account?

sleepy me thinks that all you need to do is enable root, login as root...create a new user, delete the present user. Login as the new user and disable root.

I'd go with the create new user, make admin, delete old user route if I had to.

Preference for me would be wipe and reinstall though...

Reinstalling every app I have on there would be a world of pain though! If twas for a random buyer I would, but its my sis, im not too worried, just wanna take all my junk off for her!

Looks like sudo rm will be the way to go!
