Smoke alarm batteries query

Downstairs smoke alarm is beeping every couple of minutes. Batteries need replacing. It is a standard issue one with the cover about the same size as a CD.

I'm having difficulty getting the lid off.

Anyone know what type of batteries they take? I need to go out and buy them now. I can worry about getting the lid off when I get back from the shop.

Make sure the snooze button is working on it as well when you give it a test run.

They usually hinge open, on the long side. You might have to pull clip out or push in, some of them you just push up on one side and it opens.

Better getting rechargeables these days, they are really good value, good ones will last longer than regular nonrechargeable ones.
