Who remembers this brightly coloured classic, used to be on the den in the darcy days. Cheesy Californian rock band who used to play a gig in sharky's every week. Great theme song; "surf dudes with attitude, kinda groovy!"
The girl who played bass went on to be in baywatch (after a bit of augmentation)

Started out on TCC first though if I remember.
"Walks into walls" (Sly's blind girlfriend) is now in Las Vegas the series.

I've got every episode on dvd. It's a classic show even today. All their songs were pretty good.

Yeah, i remember it. I remember I couldn't stand the character Lorraina Costa who went out with Jake and Sly. Very spoilt and tempermental girl I always thought. The Chinese girl used to annoy me as well at times. I sometimes used to feel sorry for Sly getting a lot of grief of the others. remember the term "ferret face" was always been thrown at him.

yeah lorraina was a bit of a weapon alright. Was she in the band? I remember when Jake came into it, he was the 'bad boy' you knew he was supposed to be a bad boy cos he wore a leather jacket... wrong side of the tracks that boy! I he even smoked in one episode.. controversial. A sort of similar show was pugwall, same kind of thing but with an Australian kid. I remember it used to be on summer mornings, possibly channel 4?

Peter Unwin George Wall, and his sister Marmaloid.

"Nobody tells me what to do, no not me
Nobody tells me what to say, can't you se
I've got a dream, I'm gonna make it
If there's a chance, I'm gonna take it
With drums a thumpin', bass player pumpin'.
Keyboards, and me on my guit-aaaaar"

    Legend stuff.

Ah Pugwall was brilliant. A far amount of the shows RTE had were based/produced in Oz, must have been cheap to buy but they were good. :)

Ah Marmaloid what a little axe wound! And the wacky parents of course. I remember having a bit of a fondness for Jenny the co-vocalist too

    That's putting it lightly...

I loved California Dreams! If I recall the Chinese girl was an exchange student who somehow spoke flawless english with an american accent (Kind of like how USA High was set in paris but they used dollars!) I caught a few episodes a few years back and it was cringeworthy how they mimed singing/playing instruments along to a track that didn't match up at all. I'd probably buy it on dvd if I could find it...

yeah remember the the flame hot guitar solos. The asian girl used to get phrases wrong to great comic effect. CaptainNegative has the DVD...They used to get so excited when Sly would get them a gig in Sharky's, but he got them 2 a week!

Yeah, like round the twist. Or the tribe. What were the words to the theme song from that? anyone who knows gets the utmost respect from me

I remember that I couldn't wait to be 13 (like Pugwall) cos then my life would be soooo cool! :o

California Dreams was so bent. Thought it was Saved by the Bell. But it wasn't. It never would be! And don't even get me started on SBTB the New Class *smacks cast members for their sheer audacity*

    End rant.

Wasn't there another one with a girl who swam underwater and could communicate with whales too, think she was called Nell or something...
Also think "Half Way Across the Galaxy and Turn Left" & "The Girl From Tomorrow" were Australian.
