Sd card question

Hi. First time posting on this forum so if its in the wrong place, mods feel free to move.

Anyway my question is that I've recently purchased an 8gig sd card, it was originally for my nikon d50 but it doesn't work in it, so I thought I'd use it as a handy storage but when I put it in the computer it wouldn't work, now other sd cards work.

So is it either the computer doesn't recognise 8gig cards or is the card fecked?

    Thanks.
    D. :p

When you say it doesn't work, what exactly do you mean? Not recognised? Can't save on to it/read from it?

Did you format the card yet?

Are you sure it is a legit 8Gb card? I haven't heard of them. You didn't buy it on E-bay, by any chance?

If it is legit, the driver for your card reader would probably have to be updated to read it.

If it is a real 8GB SD card it requires a SDHC (High Capacity) compatible interface not all SD controllers out there are compatible with this new standard. Look for SD readers that advertise SDHC support though some don't like this Crucial one which does in fact support SDHC.
