Come on, show us your non-digi-velvia-fied landscapes!

This is something, it would seem, i just don't do at all. But here's a random effort to kick things off:

I always kinda liked this one. I was taking a boring workaday shot while out hiking, and Zoe who was walking with me ran and jumped into the frame. I actually had no idea she'd even been captured because it was literally in the last fraction of a second as the mirror popped up.

Its also an 800 speed negative film so pretty far from velvia but who's quibbling eh :-)

Sorry about the copyright mark, just took it off my site as i couldn't be bothered to find the original. Taken on a Fuji Finepix, can't remember the model, 2 megapixel sensor is all i remember. This was always my favourite pic that i took with that camera

And you forgot your kid in the middle of the beach :-)

    That's untouched landscape :-D

Well, almost untouched. But it wasn't me driving on the beach. That time...

By the way, what is it velvia? If it doesn't have vissible grain, it can't be goot film :-P

velvia is an iso 50 (now 100 but i think they are re making the 50) slide film made by fuji. it is noted for its 'punchy' colours that are rather saturated.

    eg this

(note that it is simulated not actual.. but you get the idea)

This one was taken shortly after I purchased my first SLR (Do you remember that thing they used to have called film ???)

    407299650_a7e7ec35d3_b.jpg

... and this one was taken on a borrwed P&S shortly before after I dropped my last Point and Shoot Camera into a live Volcano and few weeks earlier -

... and finally ... this one I just like (it took ages to process ... it is comprised of 25 separate images) -

Taken on top of Lougcrew, Co. Meath

    The original photo is on

    flickr.

    Then I read
    www.recedinghairline.co.uk/tutorials/fakemodel/

on fake model photography, very easy to do if your have photoshop.
I think it gave this "boring" shot a bit extra, not much mind you :)

a lot of these are heavily photoshopped, which i thought was against the spirit of the thread.

I thought it was anti velviafied...?

Well it said Non Velvia ... if you think that Manhattan one look like Velvia then you need to google "velvia" ...:p

...but to be fair ... I got the point, it is against the spirit of the thread ... so sue me!! ... I was taking a bit of license ... I just wanted to post a different take on the other Brooklyn bridge one ...

Anyways ... In answer to Takeshi_Kovacs question ... the Mountain one was taken in Torres Del Paine National Park in Chile ... using a point and shoot ... and it is also against the point of the thread coz it is much closer to Velvia than the others ... but the colours are pretty realistic the lake is glacial, hence the colour ... so arguably also not really Velvia since the colours would be even more saturated if it were ... it comprises 4 photos taken with a P&S camera ...

The other mountain one should be familiar to Takeshi_Kovacs ... since your location is Kerry ...

My first picture was film ... so no cheating there unless you count scanning the negs and hiring a helicopter ... :D

The original idea was less against processing in general and more just an idea of trying to show something that doesn't go along those majestic, sweeping sort of joe cornish/colin prior (google him) amateur photographer magazine, camera club type thing. You know what I mean...? There must be a way of shooting landscapes that doesn't subsribe to that sort of style, that still looks like more than a holiday snap!*

*not saying any of these look like a holiday snap...

The big advantage of holiday snaps is, IMHO, that you have to go on holiday to get them.:D
