    Hi all,

I was wondering does anyone know a decent spot for flogging a car for its parts. I'm driving a 98 startlet at the moment and i want to get something better.
Now the problem is that getting a new car is very much dependent on selling this bad boy for about 1500. I've not had much interest from a few ads i put out. Its in decent nick, runs really well, but there just doesn't seem to be a market for it. So i want to scrap it for its parts. Does anyone know where would do me a good deal. Cheers, Gav

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

You should easily be able to get that kind of money for the Starlet if it is clean and in good working condition with half decent tyres and a valid NCT, unless it has a huge mileage on it. Stick it in adverts.ie, buyandsell.net and carzone.ie and it will be gone in a week

I'd say you could do worse than VolvoBoy's Carina. Probably had a fair bit of TLC.

    There isn't a market for 98 Starlets?
Where are you advertising? Home & Garden?

Those agricultural pieces of junk are worth a lot of money from what I've seen.

The girlfriend paid €4,500 for a 98 about a year and a half ago.

Mind linking to the ad? The good people here might have some advice for you on how to word the ad, etc.

Stick it up here on adverts.ie as well. It's free! And you can put a picture ad in the buy and sell for a tenner or so. Do that as well. Carzone is good, but not so good for low price cars...

    OP,

I dont know whats going wrong for you, but you should easily get your asking price for the starlet - I cant believe it has not been snapped up at that price.
I got 900E for a 92 one 5 months ago, and could have sold it 10 times over - mind you it did have a full 2 yrs nct.

Put a few pics up there & I reckon you could get upwards of €3,000 for it if it's in good condition.
Hell, even I'd buy it at €2,000!

Just read the ad, try advertising for a little less than 2k, as this will put a lot of people off. Where you are saying about the milage, I would change it to,
"Good runner, Handles well" remove saying that it is high milage, this will also put people off.
