STT - Early or Late

    Hey all.

    Playing low level stt's - $5 and $10

As you know there's a lot of gamblers at these levels so the early stages tend to be quite wild.

There seems to be two schools of thought here. One where you try and amass a stack early, the other where you let the gamblers knock each other out and take them on later on.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on the best approach?

Playing tight I can go about 70 hands before I need to open up. At this stage I'm close to the money but will very rarely be the chip leader. However, the larger blinds are profitable as I feel I'm one of the bettor(haw haw) players in the game. This leads to a decent amount of ITM's.

On the other hand, playing loose well early on leads to things like having 40% of the chips with ages to go and this leads to more firsts.

    Whadya think?

As an aside can someone please please please tell me how to play jacks.

In the long run (5k stt's) your looking to build a BR/make money through a good ROI. Early tight/late aggro style is best for this esp in the lower level STT's where ICM doesnt play as much of a role.

Its a post flop hand (no matter what your pre action is)

I also play at these levels and I find in the early stages the muppets tend to shove pre-flop with pretty much any 2 pretty picture cards.

It can be quite easy to isolate them and get them to call a shove when you get the hand to do it.
