    Hi

I have a SLx Aerial Amplifiers with Digital Bypass

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?TabID=1&ModuleNo=33969&doy=16m8

and want to connect a TV Link Super Plus Combiner

    http://www.tvlink.co.uk/spc4.htm

to my 2 digiboxes downstairs with tv links in each remote room for remote functionality. I was told by TV link themselves that the SLx amp will not be sufficent and i will HAVE to buy a T180 amp from themselves, is this right or a ploy on their part for more business?

I thought if a amp has a digital bypass it would not matter what make and model the amp would be.

Here is a image of what i want to do, swapping the T180 in the loft for the SLx amp with Digital Bypass

    http://www.tvlink.co.uk/downloads/185005765_spc4.pdf

    Any ideas?

    D.

I must admit, I've never seen or used the SPC4 before.

Maybe just try it with the SLx before getting the rather expensive T180.

The T180 injects voltage into the system AFAIK, as the output of a Skybox wouldn't be able alone to power a multitude of TVlinks. Maybe Global think that the SLx is passive, and doesn't assist the RF2 power.

Ive had a few problems when using SLX digi amps in where they will only work with SLX branded magic eyes. But I havent used a slc4 with a slx amp but have used them with Wolsey branded amps and they worked perfectly and global branded amps.

I dont think that you need the SPC4 as this is for connecting up to 4 set top boxes (Standard digibox and or Sky+) to a single distribution system and is more for use where the set top boxes are located in the same room or if you have a combination of boxes in different rooms. Furthermore the SPC4 is a bit troublesome to set up and has its flaws.
However the SPC2 is what you are looking for which will combine two set top boxes (Sky and Sky+) in different locations into the one distribution system and unlike the SPC4 does not have to be programmed. Alternatively you could just use a Triax wideband splitter with power pass on both legs used in reverse as a combiner and that will work fine.
I cant see any reason why it would not work with your existing return path amplifier.

    any update on this?

i have global loftbox with 2 sky boxes(one uk freeview) and magic eye will only control the sky plus box and the reception on the freeview in secondary rooms is not great

my aerial is connected to an slx (masthead amp i think) before being fed to the loftbox

i was thinking of getting 6 way slx in b+q to see if this will improve reception for freeview in secondary rooms

would love to be able to control both boxes at every location with one magic eye

would the spc4 do this for me?
