Well you know the drill, the Dubs have been asked the question but to ask specifically, the question is this.....Would you rather beat the other team and lose the final to your neighbours or prefer to just lose the semi-final?

I would rather get to the final anyday no matter who the opposition are.

The only thing is that I dont feel as a Meath man thats its all that much of an issue. Meath have been written off so many times this season, there has been no hype in the media up until now. The complete opposite is true for Dublin. I blame the media more than actual Dublin fans but the season only has to start and Dublin are going to win Sam. I cant speak for Cork or Kerry but I would assume that the local press have Kerry in the same light as a lot of the national papers have Dublin.

I think Cork will be a different team this weekend and so will Kerry in a weeks time. It wont be easier for either of the teams from Leinster but I'd rather have Cork over Kerry anyday.

BTW Long time reader but first time poster to the forum.

    Have to be honest here,

I'd prefer to lose3 a semi to Dublin, that an All Ireland final to the Cork.
I just shudder at the thought of it. Cork as All Ireland champions after beating Kerry:eek:

I'd rather lose in the final to either Dublin or Kerry, doesn't matter which. 2 years ago, Cork caved in to Kerry at the semis. Last year, we won Munster and put up a better fight in the semi-final. Making the final this year would be good progress for a young Cork team.

Sorry but without Masters not a chance...

I'm really getting sick of all this "We are finished without Masters" crap. James Masters is a very good footballer but the simple fact is if you look back at his performances in Croke Park he has nearly always been very poor.
However some people seem to be convinced that if he played on Sunday he would increase Cork's chances of winning. I don't agree.

To answer the question the thread is asking, as a Corkman I would much prefer to be beaten by Meath this Sunday than by our eh, "dear friends" from across the border. But then again we'll never know if we can win the final if we don't get there so it's a kind of Catch 22 situation.

ya, i think people are overhyping the loss of Masters too much.
He has a poor record in Croke park, and to me he seems to shoot too often in a game. Maybe palyers like Donnacha O Connor will take on more shooting responsibility in his absence. Also Masters replacment in Daniel Goulding scored 1-6 in the U21 final this year so he could prove to be well capable also

Me too, I would rather lose to Cork or Kerry than to Dublin, especially in an All-Ireland Final. Having said that I would prefer to lose to Kerry than Cork, but hopefully none of the above will happen.:)

Personally, I think this could be Meath's biggest test yet. Or at least a different kind of challenge than they have faced up to now. Billy Morgan will have the Cork lads really fired up for Meath, even though there is a much better relationship between the camps than in the past. Cork have tall athletic players who will use the width of CP like us, so Meath will have to be work very hard to carve out openings, be economical (scoring wise) with the possession/chances they get. Cork may even take a Monaghan like approach and try and rough up the Meath team somewhat or at least intimidate them slightly, so they don't have it all their own way. While a close encounter, even a draw is possible; I get the feeling one or other team may get the upper hand, with the others having an off-day of sorts and so the winning margin been 4-6 points in the end, without much of a real contest. This eventuality could go either way on the day, but I feel Meath the more likely.

This one is really hard to call and yes people are speculating the loss of Masters.Goulding could be a better player possibly and offer more options.Masters 45s in Croker always land too short as was the case in lasts years semi against Kerry. Are Meath still without Fay?That will be a big casualty for Meath too so it may be evened up.

Meath = on form and impressive
    Cork = scraping by

Take your pick but the form above can change or remain the same.Tyrone didn't show up last time but Meath really owned them after Dooher went off.Cork just scrape by Louth and Sligo.

Something tells me Cork are going to have their match of the year.I just find it strange how a team with a lot of promise have been unimpressive and still make it to a semi.I can't even make up my mind as who is going to win but on form alone I'd fancy Meath.

Well 50% right. Only thing I'd disagree on was Meath did not own Tyrone for the majority of the 2nd half. Tyrone's forwards let them down and we probably read too much into them beating a poor Tyrone team on the day.

The battle hardened team who was sick of losing Semis won it. Wonder will this be relevant for Sunday?:D

Well, Meath were overhyped for the game. Not taking away from what they achieved this year, but alot saw them as finalists already and thats gonna affect a teams preparation. At the end of the day, i think they looked great against Tyrone, but thats all. Galway are a team absolutely on the downward spiral. Fermanagh and Down were the others? (i think) I would expect Meath to triumph over them. Cork, a solid, hard team who wont give an inch. Whether its Dublin or Kerry, they will need to be on their toes against them. They can match either both tacticly (to a large extent) and physically (all the way) so they should not be taken lightly

All good teams peak around the semis like Cork and Kerry to be honest did you really think Meath or Dublin were gonna make it to an All Ireland, come on get with it..
