    Howye all

With the weather we've been having this "Summer" I for one am looking forward to the controlled enviornmental conditions of indoors again! :D

Before the IV season kicks off, are there any rules that we need to hammer out or clarify while we have time to discuss them in a nice and civilised manner rather than the monkey s**t fight at a zoo method!

I've been a bit out of touch with boards over the Summer so apologies if this has already been delt with, but have we finalised the "what is a beginner" rule? The current rule goes like this .................

Beginner. Any archer who has not scored the following at an Intervarsity or Schools competition can shoot as a beginner, if they choose.
400+ points in the Beginner category.
350+ points in the Bare Bow/Long Bow categories.
300+ points in the Advanced/Compound category.
400+ points on a 60cm target in a Schools Competition.

Was there talk of including archers who have previously shot a FITA round before shooting an IV here? Also, we have some barebow shooters switching to recurve this year - just to clarify, once you are "advanced" in one discipline, this means you are "advanced" in all disciplines ............ right? As in, an advanced barebow switching to recurve is also an advanced recurve?

Any other bits that need clarification and/or discussion??????

A beginner is a beginner.. if you have shot in any competition you are not a beginner (unless that competition was 60cm@18m and you have yet to get 400)

Also, we need someone to take over this year. My two years on the IAAA is over in a month. Someone doing a postgrand or one their years grace is ideal as they should have been around a few years and know the system.

    Any suggestions:???

    Maybe you Panserborn

Its not hard work.. i swear

Hmm, not hard work you say? We're talking about the IAAA colleges rep right? Anyone else wana go for this position? Might be handy to have a Dublin archer as the rep cause it might be easier for them to get to meetings and the likes. Galway is a bit of an archery black hole.

If anyone wants an abusive hobbit involved as the colleges rep i can do it.... I've been around possibly the longest of any college archer, or at least close to it, and i'm just on my year's grace now.

Hmm just wondering about the dates for the shoots.

    Have they been agreed yet?

If so whats the timetable looking like? :)

    Not yet.

The IAAA calander meeting is on Oct 13th and we should all send a rep from each affiliated club (and non-affiliated) to make sure the IV dates aren't clashing with shoots or each other.

In terms on IV dates I reckon the buck stops with the IAAA calander since there are a growing number of us shooting in IAAA shoots as well as the IVs.

Hopefully this year that'll include me. Thanks for the info :)
