Retrofitting Audi A3 with Extras

Ok, been humming and hawin about buying a Audi A3 (2.0 TDi 2004 Model) for a long while now, and there are 2 distinctive trims i've been looking at; Ambition (the sporty one with upgraded alloys, lowered suspension, onboard computer etc) and the Ambiente (the SE comfort model with cruise control armrest etc). I've pretty much settled on the ambition but am really keen to get it,BUT with cruise control, an armrest (and possibly a multifunction steering wheel). Does anyone know if these can be retrofitted cause i've been hearing conflicting reports, a guy who was selling a car in the North said he could and would for me and then i rang a garage in Tipp this morning and they said unless its done when you're buying the car NO!

So has anyone any idea??? Thanks for your help!!

    I owned a 2004 A3 2.0TDI Ambition.

Cruise can be done easily as the A3 has a DBW throttle, arm rest again, easy enough - ebay would be your best bet for it.

The steering wheel can be done also but you would want to know what you are doing. I know a lot of lads with MKIV Golfs retro fitted the MKIV R32 steering wheel to their cars as it was a lovely wheel.

www.audi-sport.net or www.vagdrivers.net is where you should head to for some advice!

Why bother? Buy one with the spec. you want or throw your hard earned away.

If you go to the International A2 Owners Club www.a2oc.net

There is a guy there called Skipton01 who has retrofitted every possible thing to his A2 and now has a TT which he is doing up.

He knows everything there is to know about retrofitting things to Audis.

Get on there and drop him a line. The cruise control is not as simple as you would think from the above post. You need a Vag-Com to do it. Skipton does it for a fee but he is in England.

thanks for that, the guy i was thinking about buying it off said he rang main audi garage and said they could do it, the armrest and cruisecontrol were costing about €630 but i was getting him to throw it in with the car when i was buying it (albeit the car is a bit over expensive anyway)

i know there's good deals in England but been reading other threads here about importing and i'm slightly apprehensive, alot of the UK cars have all these things included

The only ones with the spec are in the UK, do you know of anyone who brings cars into ireland to your desired spec?

When I was enquiring about a second hand A3 in Grange they said they could fit an armest no problem - not sure about the other stuff but I'd def go for the ambition - alloys are gorgeous and is a slick looking car
