Beers photos

I've added some beers photos here: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=53768343&postcount=536 (several posts) and here: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=53768343&postcount=571 (several posts)

Some of them are a biut out of whack, bleached or too dark - the lighting in the pub wasn't the easiest to work with. What needs to be done to correct them. I've tried goofing around with Contrast, brightness and I have an 'auto enhance' option on the software I have (Photostudio?), with mixed results.

I'm using a compact digital and while outdoor night shots are generally OK, I have yet to master interior shots and people.

    Any tips?

The main problem is the flash on a point and shoot, remember I had my flashgun pointing behind me when I was taking photos? That's so the light would bounce off the walls behind me, and come back a lot more natural.

You could diffuse the flash on your camera by putting, for example, a Rizla skin, over the flash? It'll look a bit naff, but it works!

For the ones that are too dark, try using Shadow/Highlight in photoshop, it can bring a suprising amount of detail back!

The auto enhances aren't that great, because the software dosn't know what you want! :)

Where are all the photos of my beloved photography boardsies? Oh the humanity. Al, get your arse in gear!

    Victor,

Try running them through Noiseware (the free one is at the bottom of the page). It will remove a lot of the noise you are suffering due to lack of light.

    Cal.

Fajitas! And when we'll see some of your back-flash pictures?

personally I'd rather not see any of him flashing his backside... I'm sure we'll get enough of that in a couple of weeks time

    Ahem, well, yes.

We were fairly lacking in photography people that night it must be said. We were even forced to integrate with a few spooky people!

I'm struggling to remember what the 'hifive' was for, but it must have been exciting at the time...

Al, c'mon with your lot... of course, not the ones where I look like a drunkard - not that I got extremely minced on 3 glasses of wine, that is, noooo.

Victor, if you want to take decent pictures in conditions like that, you need some sort of light source - but when you use the on camera flash you get the nasty shiny thing, and if you don't use flash you get a long exposure which blurs everything. However, if you can manually override your camera enough to get it to fire the flash at less than full power (sometimes achieved by covering it with tape or something like that), and combine that with a slightly longer exposure, you can get a happy medium that can sometimes turn out really funky.

I'm a supporter of the rizla paper or tissue paper flash filter for P&S

the hifives were basically celebrating the idea of going home, getting you to dorn a bikini, and film you firing my airsoft M4 to the sound of some thrash metal.... chicks with guns style.

look, it wasnt my idea... it was the pervs on the photography boards. I was a mere bystander, unsure of whether to start beating people up, or actually try to play out the idea....

    perversion rules ok

    well....

    theres a difference between good-looking, and fake-looking.

Funny that Barby was modelled on the ideal woman at conception....and now the ideal woman is modelled on Barby.
