Behringer Amps (Bass)

Hey! I was thinking of buying a Behringer cabinet and top. Just wondering what other people think about Behringer? These were the two I was looking at: the Ultrabass BA 410 Box and the Ultrabass BX 4500 H Top. Does anyone know what these are like?

Ive heard mixed reports about all of their products. Mostly bad too, the build quality is awful, control knobs falling off etc. Save your money and go for something with a better reputation.

To be fair - I've been using one of their heads for a while and it's worked fine.

Never given me any problems at all and it sounds great with my basses.

    Cheap and it works.

But yes, they have a reputation for not being great, but it works fine for me.

I'd buy another if I needed it.

Most brands are over priced in my opinion.

Id get that one, more bang for your buck, and everyone knows Ashdowns sound great, plus you only have to carry one thing around!

Actually, it's sometimes easier to carry two things around. But, no matter what, a 4x10 bass cab is huge and you're better off with a 'roadie'. :)
That Ashdown doesn't appear to have wheels, whereas the Behringer does, so one person can at least drag it around if necessary.

I own the BA115 cab and the BX4500H head, and I love them. There are no issues with 'build quality' and the sound is warm and loud. The head has a lot of options for 'punching' or 'thumping' your sound, and you can kick the tweeter in or out on the cab.

I also recently bought a Behringer Europower PMH2000 250w 10-channel powered mixer, which I love to death. It was only 300USD.

I also own an Ultrabass 1200 120w combo for practicing at home. Extremely loud for the size and money!

I have the Ashdown 210-300 and that's a pain in the ass to carry around. If anybody's thinking of getting the 4x10" version definitely get the head and cabinet seperately. The combo still doesn't come with wheels. I thought I'd get the 2x10" combo so it'd be easier to carry around but I kinda wish I got the head and cabinet seperately now. Hate carrying that thing. Sounds nice though.

And oh yeah, you're just generally better off paying the extra money and getting something better than a behringer. Ashdown aren't that expensive and they make some decent amps.

I must say I've never really liked the Ashdown sound.

It just never did it for me. I've tried a lot of them at different times and always found the sound from an SWR or Gallien Kruegger to be nicer, to my ear.

    For €500?

Ignoring the price. I just have never liked the sound from Ashdowns.

It's a personal thing. I remember sitting in a shop and playing some nice basses through a few Ashdown rigs and not being able to get a sound I liked, but as soon as I plugged into a small WorkingMans 12" SWR combo and reset the EQ there it was.

I've tried a few since and the same thing happened.

But I'm willing to accept that it's just my likes or dislikes.
