Wondering if anyone has taken this pill and what did they think of it? It is a lower dosage than Yasmin. I am on Microlite currently and was on Yasmin previously, but I am getting a lot of spots recently and thought changing might help. Anyway just want some opinions before I go to my GP as he isn't very "in the know" about the different brands of pill. Thanks.

Shouldn't you find a GP that you're happy with. It took me 3 goes when I was living in Cork to find a GP who I was content with.

You could try a family planning clinic or ask a pharmacy for the advice leaflet.

Microlite is one of the lightest brands out there. I know lots of people on it, none of whom have any side effects. Are you quite sure the spots are from the pill? Have you changed your diet? Are you eating rubbish? Have you changed your skincare regime?

There's pretty much no point in asking this sort of question. If all women were the same in terms of how they reacted to the pill then they would have settled on the correct dosage for all women by now. Unless another poster has the same body as you, they can't advise you based on their experience.

I was on Yasmin... Hated it. Found it too harsh on my body, spots weight gain etc. So I switched to the EVRA patch. No side effects like spots works like the pill and the only side effect is weight LOSS!!! I love it. But it can be expensive. But its free on the medical card!

I'm on my second month of yasminelle and so far so good. I haven't had any weight gain, at the beginning I broke out with a few spots but they're clearing up now. Apparently this is normal, but it clears up acne in the long run.

The only side effect I've noticed is some moodiness the odd day, like small things might upset me or p!ss me off. Doesn't happen often though and I imagine thats not unusual when you're getting used to having all these hormones in your body!

If you dont want to talk to your GP about this I'd advise going to a Well Woman's clinic. I know of a few people who have had problems with Microlite, but everyone's different. Anyway I've found Yasminelle fine so far. Good luck

Pretty much the same for me. I think there may have been a little weight gain (only a little tho!). Spots haven't cleared up yet but will give it some time. Now and then I get bouts of moodiness too but aside from that its going ok

I think different brands of the pill affect everyone differently. I'm very happy with microlite but you're obviously are having problems with it so same goes for yasminelle, someone here could tell you it's grand but then it may not work out for you.

Yeh it's mad. Really weird here, I went on Dianette a year ago, (for acne) cleared it up in less than a month, but side effects included weight gain, moodiness and pains in my legs. So I came off it.
After much debate I went on it again just over two months ago (spots came back when I came off dianette) and this time no weight gain, no moodiness, no pains in legs. But my skin isn't completly clear yet. Dunno why I'm not reacting to it like I did last year:confused:

Now on my second month of Yasminelle. First i had no side effects but it took at least 3 weeks to see an improvement with my skin. However now on my second month i have had breakouts again. The biggest side effect however is cramps , which feels like period cramps but its lasted about 3 weeks. Also mild backache. I really hope this goes away as i cannot continue with it if i experience cramps and backache everyday. I will try to continue until the end of the month.

You really need to talk to a doctor, it sounds like it isn't working out for you.

Go to your GP or possibly seek a second opinion.

This is now bordering on medical advice, so thread closed.
