We thought Jurassic Park was dead, well think again......presenting Jurassic Park IV with lasers!!!
Universal Pictures has officially begun casting for Jurassic Park IV, which will film in Kauai, Hawaii later this year! Laura Dern confirmed her return to the franchise as Dr. Ellie Sattler here as Sam Neill will NOT return. We’re told that the film is about the government who has trained dinosaurs to carry weapons and use them for battle purposes.

As already summed up on another site
"This is dangerously close to Dr. Evil’s “sharks with frickin’ laser beams attached to their heads.”"

Ok the first one was good for its time, the second was pushing it (I read the book which was completely different...especially the ending), but oh dear god they need to stop milking this!

Please, please tell me this is a joke

Just wait for 'Jurrasic Park V'. It's about a company that trains dinosaurs to work in tech support and answer mundane enquiries..................................With shocking results!

I'm shocked to see you of all people complaining about this. Hell, if they were to hire Stuart Gordon as director, make it a straight-to-DVD release with a budget of about €20 I'm sure I wouldn't be the only person expecting it to be near the top of your "must buy" list :P

If we must have more cinematic releases with a dinosaur theme, I want a big screen adaptation of Dinosaur Comics (Yes, with the crappy sprite-looking graphics and all!)

Well here's some more rumours about the plot:
An insider close to the project was able to expand further on the rumoured plot line for "Jurassic Park IV", stating that that the dinosaurs were going to be carrying weapons but that the public shouldn't jump to immediate assumptions:
"This isn't a bunch of dinosaurs arming themselves like some sort of B-Movie.
We've actually put a lot of thought into this and are going to try and tie in a lot of cool ideas that are cutting edge in the real world and applying them to our dinosaurs.

We're basically exploring the scenario of a government that has developed technology enabling them to control dinosaur's brains remotely. This gives them the ability to drop dinosaurs into enemy territory and wreak havoc. The dinosaurs could be equipped with simple weaponry linked to their type and controlled by the military - how about a steel replacement for the whip of a brontosaur's tail for example? A pteradoctyl that can drop a bomb from its claws? A T. Rex whose small forearms are replaced with longer mechanical arms equipped with rotating blades? How cool would that be?

The public thinks they've seen it all, think they know how dangerous dinosaurs can be. We're going to show them they've only seen the beginning and that the real battle is out to kick off."

Yeah but that's the difference, it isn't a B-Movie, it won't be directed by Stuart Gordon and it won't cost anything near 20 :D

I don't want to see a classic movie tarnished by this rubbish. Yes, a lot of sequels are rubbish, but at least most of them stick to the same basic principles. Progressing to Dinosaurs with weapons sounds like the movie adaption of Primal Rage.

Although maybe it's just badly worded - and could turn out to be something more. But the very phrase 'dinosaurs with guns' just plain doesn't sound right.

It'd be more at place on the box of Raptor 2 or Carnosaur 4....then it'd be OK :D

If any of that is true then jurassic park 4 will suck ass in a major way. Did they get some 10 year old to come up with that dinosaurs with guns crap?

I remember hearing the rumour about David Boreanez leading a pack of genetically modified super Deinonychus* to fight crime or something.
What makes me laugh even more is that people believed it might possibly be true! :D
I also heard rumours that Keira Knightly and also Kelly Rowland would be in it with David Lynch directing.
Anyone care to bet on any of them? Thought not.

edit: Click the link to see what a Deinonychus is:

How cool would it be if they just didn't make it? :)

the first movie is one of my favourite movies ever.

This movie seems like it will be a lot LOT worse then if you took all the bad parts of the sequels and squashed them together.....

    this looks just painful.

Sounds awful but the worst part is peple will still want to see it because of the name. To be honest I kind of want to see it myself to see how bad it is.

This is what instantly came into my mind when I read that -

Heh, I know what you mean, sort of. Now I don't for one second expect this to end up being any good, but there was an old 2000AD comic called Xtnct which was about a terrorist movement made up of genetically-engineered dinosaurs with enhanced intelligence (example pic here) and it was at least entertaining. So there's hope for it being an amusing way to spend a couple of hours, but not much hope for it winning anything other than a Razzie...

this so sounds like the product of a meeting that would not look out of place as a scene from "the player"

studio head - "so what is it"

producer - "ok. get this. it's jurrasic park meets die hard!!!"

did anyone ever read the original juarrasic park book

it was full of theories about how the world has survivied so long and how life will always exist in conditions where they can live, and then will attempt to evolve if these conditions change. it would be great if the touched on this in this film

Sounds vaguely like Turok: Dinosaur Hunter. Except not as entertaining...

This rumour has been around for a few years now though. Disappointingly, it won't go away.

In the unlikely event that there is a Jurassic Park 4 trust me it will be nothing like this.
