Finding an Old Friend

Okay Folks, I'm in need of some help finding a girl I lost touch with many years ago. The only info I have to start with is her name and a partial address. It's been over ten years since we've spoke so she may have moved or emigrated or whathaveyou.

Is there an online database that is accessible to the public that gives info like all residential addresses in a certain area, eg. All the houses in Fake Street, Dublin 2. ?

I could just go knocking on doors in the area but seems a little...Kerrazzy tbh.

    Any advice?

wouldnt that be illegal to have a website with that information freely available?

No such website to my knowledge.

My first port of call would be the local postman.

The register of electors or Thom's street directory - requires work on your part though

the electoral register should have her address if she is registered to vote

Contact Dublin Corporation in regard to see if you are able to view it - I was out canvassing for the election just gone and we all had copies for the streets we were canvassing on

    my 2 cents

    Cheers for the tips.

Regarding using the phonebook: It was the first place I checked but her number must be unlisted.
The electorate is a great idea, thanks.
As for asking the postman, great idea but it would involve me hanging around the area all morning in the hopes of bumping into one. That just seems a little excessive and stalkerish to me, hehe.

I've been checking sites like MySpazz and Bebo already but it's hit and miss as I've no idea if she's ever used them. I did find a load of people I've lost contact with over the years so it wasn't all bad.

    Thanks folks.

Ask a friend to ask a friend to ask a friend to ask a friend to ask a friend if they know her. By the six degrees of separation rule they should know her, but be careful, you could end up meeting Kevin Bacon instead.

I've worked as a researcher for years and finding people like this is my area of expertise! Frankly, the post office is your best chance. They are usually very helpful and might put you in touch with someone who lives on the road and might know the person you are looking for. Alternatively, you could put the partial address into eircom.net and call other people who live on the road. Tell them you are a radio researcher and you're trying to connect two lost friends if they find it strange.

Exactly. I have also had a few occasions to track people, and find a chat with them the best source of local information.

I don't think you should lie to people about stuff like that TBH
