Trying to watch a match on setatnta sports 2 at moment. There are two black strips down the side of the screen. I have an NTL Pace box( i think thats what its called - the old black one not the small silver one). Anyone know how I can make it or if I can make it widescreen?

I have a suspicion thats due to the French host broadcaster or are you watching Celtic? Maybe the Russians don't do 16:9 either.

Yeah watching Celtic - I know someone with sky and he was able to set the picture that it filled the screen. I remember it used to happen on ITV Champions league but I was able to change the screen setting on the NTL help menu. No joy with this. Any ideas?

The SKy set up might just allow zooming in so the picture fills the frame but definition is lost (and part of the action!). Modern LCD and plasma sets have multiple picture ratios but of course only one will be correct for the broadcast image.

Its a setanta problem both on cable and satellite. they are broadcasting the wrong flag for the picture format. e.g sending a 16/9 flag on a 4/3 broadcast. Bloody annoying.

I was watching the Liverpool match through Sky yesterday and wasn't able to get rid of the black borders on the side no matter what i did with the picture settings.

You couldn't. It wasn't broadcast in widescreen. The black bars on the side would have given you the correct ratio.
