I know I did this before, but now I've forgotton how to do it.
Could someone please tell me how to convert a word doc into pdf? Does Adobe Reader Professional do this?

OpenOffice has a feature whereby you can save a word document as a pdf... And it's free too...

I use the feature in openoffice too. If you don't want to install it on your computer alongside office, there is a version that works off your USB key.

Why go to the trouble of installing openoffice when all one is going to do is save to pdf?

Why upload your (possibly sensitive) docs to a foreign website which you have no control over?

Why not use CutePDF writer instead?? It installs as a virtual printer on your machine. When you want to convert a document to PDF just choose print & select CutePDF from the list of printers. Your document is converted & saved as a PDF doc.

    voila! job done.

Get PrimoPDF. Excellent program and free. All you do is print to to file (pdf) instead of a printer.

This was absolutely useless. A one page word doc ended up being three pages on a pdf doc.
