ITV and Sky +?

    Hi,

I've been asked by a friend of mine to programme some ITV programmes into my Sky Plus Box while he's away, however they're on ITV. I have ITV programmed in under 'other channels' but I can't browse ahead through the tv guide and select what programmes I want recorded?

Anyone got a solution to this (short of manually recording them when they start)?

    Thanks in advance

It's not possible to sky-plus from other channels.

As said not with the Sky+ recording features. You will need to record the old fashioned way.

Apologies if this is a stupid question but what is the old fashioned way?

Hook up a video and make sure the channel is set to Other Channels/ITV. Is this what you mean?

Would be no harm to just check if some/any of the programmes to be recorded are also on TV3.

Easy to Sky+ them ones then. :)

this is my no. 1 gripe about Sky+ (which is otherwise a wonderful system)

dammit Sky - give us ITV and the extra BBC channels. If its good enough for NTL customers, its good enough for us too!

The programmes I want to record are not on TV3 unfortunately. I didn't realise how much I watch ITV until it was taken away. I used to record stuff off it using the VCR on my NTL service.

I was thinking of trying something like progDVB on my PC with a SkyStar 2 card. Have any of you tried this?

I could record stuff on my PC using progDVB record timer. I have a USB port on my DVD player. I could copy the programmes from my PC to a usb memory stick.

I think they put a quad LNB on my dish when I got sky+ installed last year.

tbh I'm the opposite - since I switched from NTL to Sky I don't think I've turned on ITV even once. BBC3 and BBC4 on the other hand I used to watch a lot, and now I keep forgetting that I still have them...
