Window colour query

    Hello,

Recently started self-build in Mayo... blockwork currently underway and we're starting to think about the things coming down the line at us... One of these is the colour of our windows - we're thinking of going with hardwood MJ windows and are wondering if anyone has seen these painted/stained black. As we're hoping to have some stained cedar wood cladding on the outside we were thinking that black windows would provide a good contrast with the lighter coloured cedar.

My question is whether people think it would be a shame somehow to stain wooden windows black? Would this take away from the 'naturalness' of the wood?

    Any thoughts gladly received.

    Many thanks,

    John

you could also take the easier option and go to O Gradys, Charlestown
they do a "bog oak" pvc window imho very well made

    have a look at www.tjgrady.ie

We also have the bog oak pvc window with a grain, from McMahons in Athlone, O'gradys are gone very "mass production" for the building industry so the windows are not as good as they used to be.
