Does anyone know if RTE is planning a TV version of Morning Ireland? There were rumours on boards about it starting in January this year but then I heard it would be introduced in September as part of the new season.

It will be great if we get a serious show to compete with Ireland AM and... erm... EuroNews...

Compete with Ireland AM?! Hopefuly they'd aim a little higher. :p

Not sure I see the need myself but need and something happening are not much related. I'm sure if Breky Telly were on the way RTE would already be letting us know somehow.

They should at least put a few news bulletins (like the One O'Clock, not summaries) throughout the morning.

When I last read about this, some years back at this stage, I believe
it was the unions in RTE and their pay demands for working on live
early morning TV that made it a non-runner.

I heard this is happening in September, they will put a camera in the radio studio and you can see Aine & Aoife doing their thing. Hence Morning Ireland the tv version.

Well at least it will be more original than reruns of daytime chat from the day before.
