That may mean ieee394 cable or firewire - it sounds odd that they are saying you need 3rd party software for it. Canon slr's for example can use the canon software for this. I know programmes like phase one /capture pro accomodate tethered shooting but it may not be compatible with the model of camera you have so you would need to check - it probably wont be cost effective though.

Hi bernard.. If you have a Windows XP or Vista PC or a Mac all you should need is a standard USB cable. Your camera should have come with one. When you plug the USB cable from the interface on your camera to a USB port on your computer, it should detect the camera and offer you choices on what to do next. Generally, you can open the camera to see the images, copy them to the computer, print them out etc..

What make & model camera do you have? Also, welcome to boards!

    Thanks Morlar,
The camera is a Fuji S3, Which i received as a hand down but the father lost the software that came with it. Yes the cable is an ieee394. I know nikon do software for this I have tried but it is not compatible with the fuji. Nothing ventured and all that.

Ah - if you mean take pictures from the camera and Move them to the pc - then ignore what I said. I thought you meant take pictures with the camera using the pc, as in record them using the pc ie tethered shooting, but it looks like you might mean just moving the pics.

Probably best to ignore the other downloads on this page. Just download the top (Firewire) driver.
