My battery is affected, positive way to look at it is that you get a new battery free of charge, check yours at this link:

I hope they start to recall all their faulty phones and tablets
    32xx, 51xx, 61xx, 82xx and 88xx series
and recently N95 and N770 tablett PC(thousands bought (after boards.ie bargain alert) from expansys.ie - sold will known defect WSOD)

"I recommend that before anyone buys Nokia phones etc or recommends on boards.ie that people by a Nokia bargain, that they first look on the web to see that its not a faulty piece of crap."

Had my phone 18 months. It's great to get a free replacement. If only they replaced the crappy chargers too ...

Is it only batteries made in Japan are affected. The id is so small I can't read it and wont bother getting a magnifier if it's only Japanese manufactured ones

Sorry for digging up such an old thread but the missus's 6230i battery is acting up so I was looking into a replacement one when I read about Nokia replacing that particular model of battery (BL-5C). When I put her battery id number into the Nokia website it said it was part of the dodgy batch and that I should contact my local Nokia centre.

So she has just rang the Nokia centre (Fonemenders) on South Ann St and they said there is a form online to be completed and an address on the website where she should send the battery to. I cant find the form, so I was just wondering is that what others had to do in order to get their replacement batteries?

    Thanks,

    Branners

When you enter the serial number into the nokia site, the form is meant to appear, but i think since the panic is now over you just go into a nokia care center to fix the problem. Think phone shop on dawson street is a nokia care point.

I went to that website and it said the battery id is one which requires replacing then I got the message below:
    Product Advisory: Nokia BL-5C battery

Your battery is among those manufactured by Matsu****a between December 2005 and November
2006 and your battery may be replaced. Please call the Nokia Call Center nearest you to get
    the replacement battery.

But when the wife called the Nokia centre they said there is a form on line which needs to be completed??

I was just wondering did others complete this form or are the Nokia centre taking the p1ss?

Not any more, see my last post
As the number of requests for battery replacements has declined, the replacement program
will from now on be handled by the Nokia Care.
