Anyone know if theres a cremation service for horses in Ireland. A friend of mine lost an old friend last night, and I'm trying to organise something for him. Not sure if we'll be allowed to bury.

    Hi,

Had the same problem recently - the only place that I could find in Ireland to handle horses is down in CastleIsland, Kerry. You will probably have to transport the horse to him though.

You def can't bury - talk to your local hunt, they might know someone etc.

To be devils advocate here, how good would that be for the enviroment?.

Cremation? Probably no worse than a lot of things... I'd be all for such a service anyway. Burying is now illegal.

Anyway the carcass was picked up today... I oversaw things for my friends. First time I've ever dealt with a dead horse, and although I grew up on a farm, it was still weird. One wouldnt want to be of a delicate disposition.
It will be turned into meat and bonemeal and shipped to Germany and used to generate electricity.
