I have been mulling it over in recent days and I cannot remember the name of the drama series or the British actor.

I'm not sure if this aired in Ireland at the time (1986-1987). We were living in Loughborough during that period and there was an American programme that aired for about six or seven episodes on Channel 3. It was about a no-nonsense British ex-secret agent acting as a vigilante in NYC. It was intense and I enjoyed it. The actor was probably in his late 50s or early 60s. Sound familiar?

Sounds like The Equalizer all right. It ran for a lot more than 7 episodes though, there were 4 full series so at a guess 88 episodes.

    Ah yes. The Equaliser! Thanks!

I hope they find a suitable actor to replace Woodward in the movie. I'm not sure he can be replaced.
