To be fair, lyrics aside (which are obviously profoundly miserable), it is a pretty cheery sounding song.
Can't wait for him to use Heartland for an ad!

One of the slogans from The The's record company was "Conform to Deform" but that takes the biscuit! Of couse, the record label (Some Bizzare) used to allow songs to be used in movies/ads/etc without the artists' permission and never passed on any of the royalties. I can't remember if "This is the Day" was on a Some Bizzare release but it sets off alarm bells.
